The Journey of Words and Lines begins

Thanks for joining me!

Words

Poetry is not just about randomly writing down one’s thoughts. It is about writing these thoughts in a truly expressive way such that the reader really feels and understands the message in the words that is being conveyed by the poet. Poetry comes down to playing with words precisely so as to create an impact in the minds of the reader. Reading poetry has always been one of my favorite hobbies and I love to write poems too !

Lines

Drawings are pieces of artwork that express different feelings and emotions in the most vibrant and colorful ways. In today’s world, people often try to communicate with the public through their drawings and artistic skills. Drawings don’t have to always express love, joy or happiness, they can also express sorrow, loneliness and many other feelings which one might undergo in their everyday life. Few strokes of lines can also convey a lot of meaning and an understanding of ideas that the artist wants to convey.

Beastly

Imagine a book fallen on the ground … without anyone’s notice, you pick it up and realize that this book can make you a god yourself? And guess which god? Partners with the ‘God of Death’!

The book ‘Death Note’ is owned by the God of Death. He drops the book in the human world and if a human decides to take ownership of the book, the devil has to be with the owner at a heavy price. Such a thought triggered in my mind and attracted me to do this drawing of the God of Death, Ryuk from the series ‘Death Note’. It is an amazing detective and anime series that is worth reading. Even non-anime lovers fall in love with this book and learn a lot about life, death and its other possibilities.

This unique concept of a human and a God in one being, controlling another human’s life is creepy but at the same time fascinating. The whole main essence of a devilish look and want for blood was the key point to be noted while doing this drawing. The tricky part of the drawing was the angle at which one had to hold the pen to get different kinds of strokes from the same tool and try showing some advancement in the drawing just as it is. Showcasing the teeth is also an important apart of the drawing too. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

Beauty from within

True beauty doesn’t lie on the face, but what it lies on the inside. The essence of understanding others’ feelings and doing what is just than be unfair is a very important lesson everyone needs to be aware of, no matter what the world is or how it looks at you as. Such a true spirited and powerful ghoul is Touka Kirishima who is also from the series ‘Tokyo Ghoul’. Her alertness and combat skills are awesome and she is amazing to look at. She can be a very good inspiration for girls in terms of self-defense in general. Her character and honest way of thinking is what made me go for her drawing.

“There is no way someone who can’t protect oneself can protect anyone else, is there?” is her saying. The question is very relevant in today’s world as well. The expression of innocence and anger deep within her was the key point to needed to be highlighted in this drawing. The weaponry wings or kakuja as it is known as, was a challenge for me to draw and master in very less time. The use of poster colors and Brusto shades of red alcoholic pens helped me advance the appearance of the weapon and at the same time make it look beautiful rather than scary. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

Hero without a villain … nah!

Super heroes can never exist without their villains at any of point time. One such villain that deeply attracted me was Dabi, one of the man villains of ‘My Hero Academia’ series and Todoroki’s arch enemy. He possesses not just any ordinary flame of fire, but fire with a Blue flame! His villainy looks and astounding devilish attitude was what attracted me to do a drawing of this character.

The expression of slight frustration on the face and the bending of the neck were the key points of this drawing. It requires the basic tools of grey and shades of blue and pink here. The color blue, purple, pink and shades of grey are the main colors of the drawing. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

Unfairly fair

“Why should I apologize for being a monster? Has anyone apologized for making me one?” Such lines have always been my key inspiration, teaching me that life can be unfair sometimes, that we must always be fair and just and find a way to move on. Torture is something that can be very unfair, but it is up to that person to turn that torture into a beautiful scenery.  Such a villainous ghoul from the anime series ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ is Juuzou Suzuya, who also very deeply attracted me with his girlish looks and torn heart.

The fascinating part is that the character appears to look like a girl but is actually a boy! The anxiousness with which he looks at the world, the pretty clips and stitches in his mouth and neck are what attract the very look of this drawing and hence are the highlights of the drawing. The grey scale hair and the redness of the drawing are also the key points. The proportion of the face and drawing of the lips was challenging and non-assuring for me. But the hair turned out well and easy for me, free hand strokes is my comfort zone in drawing. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

THIS IS ME

I’m under so much pressure
None to hear me out
I’m always under cover
No one figures this out
I try so hard
Just to be myself
“Will anything ever workout?”
“Not even a bit”, I often say to myself
Why can’t I be myself?
With some space just to be
Why can’t I be left alone?
Till I’m ready to BE!
I’m tired of being told
The same things every time
I wanna be unique
I wanna be ME!
I wanna live my life
The way I want it to be
‘cause this is me
And I'm whom I’m meant to be!
With all those tiny mistakes
I’m always at stake
Aggression seeps into me
None to help me be awake
I want people to accept me
Not just tell me what’s not right
Why should I be better than anyone else?
After all, it’s just me, alright!
The feeling of loneliness
Strikes me at every corner
I wish for some warmth
To unleash my power
I’ll show what I’m made of
Even if you pull me down
For I know who I am
Better than anyone else for sure
I’ll try and try no matter what
Even if you get in my way
I won’t give up this thought
Till it’s a reality some day
Beauty doesn’t lie in the face
It really lives in the inner space
Speaking the truth in any case
Yes, that’s my attitude leaving you dazed
I really don’t know how to lie
To keep my head upright, I give up and cry
At times I’m so let down
Just being me is hard to know
I’m caught up in expectations
Causing continuous frustrations
Everyone wants the best for me
Can’t they stop even when I come down on my knees
I scream as loud as I can
Find it difficult to hold back now
I’m so messed up in my actions
Trying to deal with many reactions
Tripping over my own feet
Struggling to figure out the best in me
This is my fight to not let myself down
Not let idiots talk me out
I’m lost and wounded
Feels like I’m even blinded
By different stories of truth
I really wonder where is MY truth!
I may not know where to go
But I do have a vision of tomorrow
I don’t know which path to choose
As I just don’t want to lose
I do deserve some respect for being ME
A voice for myself that speaks for me
I search for the internal light
To bring ME back to sight

Being a Hero

“Stop talking. I will win. That’s… what heroes do”. Such quotes always inspire me as an anime artist, for we need to stop talking and actually start working. This was said by Katsuki Bakugo from the series ‘My Hero Academia’ as well. What made me draw him was his unique character and personality. He in between has to take a decision between being a hero or being the bad guy and that is a very important learning in our everyday life too.

One can relate to his frame of mind in today’s world and this was the reason for me to do his drawing. The quirky smile and the super hero costume with an effective background color showcasing his personality power were the key points of the drawing. The combo expression of both devilish smile and dress of a super hero was challenging for me to draw out. Here, the usage of orange, green and grey are the main colors here. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

Masking the pain

Pain is a complex feeling that conveys a lot of messages and leads to other feelings as well. The pain one experiences today, will be one’s strength for tomorrow. So, pain must be both an advantage and a disadvantage in real life. But have you ever thought how it would feel when you realize that you are a ghoul? Becoming a frightening monster who eats humans for no fault of his. One such ghoul is a pain stricken young man named Kaneki from the anime series ‘Tokyo Ghoul’.

This is a dark fantasy series and is worth as a show to watch or to read. His inspiring quotes and the pain he has undergone in his entire journey teaches us certain life lessons that is worth all the attention.

Grey scale colors and shades of red are the most important colors that has to be included in this drawing, no matter what kind of Tokyo ghoul drawing it was. The punch in the drawing lies all in the color, expression of pain, grief and distress, angle of the person and the simplicity of showcasing anger though his evil and at the same time innocent smile. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers.

Power Game

Fire and ice are two natural forces of nature that can be considered indestructible in the world. Imagine if one of us had that awesome super power to control it? Such kind of power is possessed by a young man named Todoroki from the anime series ‘My Hero Academia’. The left side of his body possess the power of fire and the right side possess the power of ice.

In this drawing, he expresses his gratefulness for this power that he has and feels happy about it, even after facing his dark past. The genuine smile on the face is key attraction of this drawing. It was a challenge to get that smile perfectly. Also the drawing required the right tone of the basic skin colors here. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers and skin tones with color pencils.

Bonding

Brotherhood between two brothers is one of the best relationships in a family. The love, care and understanding between brothers will always be strong and they can help each other in many matters. Such was the case of the two Uchiha brothers, Itachi Uchiha and Sasuke Uchiha, from the anime series Naruto as well. Their unique relationship theories as they put forth are amazing and worth understanding.

The reason why I chose to draw these brothers was because their amazing love for each other and the unique complexity of their relationship. They sacrifice and face difficulties for each other but hatred also grows between them. Finally both of them come to an understanding of what they were trying to do for each other and this is fascinatingly breath-taking an all the time favorite moment. This drawing shows the time when they show affection and understanding to each other and also show acceptance of their faults and reconcile.

The drawing required some base of skin colors and dark shades of brown and grey. The base paper is 220 gsm white matt board. The outline is done in Pentel black liner with infill in Brusto markers. Here the usage of skin color pencils was a challenge for me as I had to maintain the consistency well. In the end like the bonding of the brothers, the drawing did turn out well.
